What exactly is an appraisal?

A complete appraisal of your fine art, antiques, or other personal property requires an on-site inspection in your home, office, bank vault, warehouse, or storage unit. Experienced appraisers inventory, note condition, measure, and photograph each item. Research to determine valuation is completed next in our office setting. ALL property stays with the owner–we work off digital photographs.  A finished written appraisal report is then presented to you.  All Chartreuse Fine Art Consultant appraisals are compliant with USPAP (The Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practices) as required by the Internal Revenue Service.

A completed written report is paramount to receiving a proper and true appraisal that can be submitted to your insurance company for scheduling your piece in a fine arts policy, tax deduction of a non-cash charitable gift or for the disposition of assets from an estate.  Be sure to seek a qualified art appraiser who is knowledgeable with USPAP which is the standard the IRS recognizes and conforms to their code of ethics. All Chartreuse Fine Art Consultant appraisers hold current USPAP certification.

How long will it take?

Chartreuse Fine Art Consultants pride ourselves on providing service in a timely manner. A standard art appraisal will take approximately two weeks.  Selling your antiques or artwork will take longer.

Yes. Chartreuse Fine Art Consultants works closely with some of the most trusted companies in the community. We partner with art galleries, dealers, auction houses and experts locally and throughout the world to create the most value for our clients.

What are your fees?

Walk-n-Talk. This is our most popular service! For $150./hr. an experienced appraiser will walk though your home, office, storage unit, or wherever the property is located, and talk about your property and provide fair market values.  The client is able to fully participate in this by walking along, taking notes on everything the appraiser relates.   Should we discover an item of high value, you then have the option of seeking an insurance appraisal or asking the appraiser to further research market trends and locations for sale.
